Process

We had several brainstorm sessions where the 3 of us sat down to pour out own fears and stories. This act of talking about our fears allow us to recount the experiences in detail, and also know each other better. The fears and stories we shared became the data and motivation for this project.

By sharing our fears, a database was created for us to iedentify keywords for Gen AI to reimagine our experiences - we think this is similar to how people reimagine a story.

Initial Idea

The plan was to create a fear trading card game. This was inspired by the card games of our childhood, but with a twist - a pack of cards with each fears having its own story and fear rating. This rating system creates a way to rank each card by its fear factor.

Progress Idea

Due to the high cost of manufacturing, we could not proceed with the producting of our 3D Lenticular Card Game. We adapted by bringing this project into the digital realm as we felt the artwork can be easily exaggerated with an interactive Instagram filter.

A test filter was made on Meta Spark Studio with face-tracking and randomising capabilities. While it was fun, it reduces the beauty of the generated artworks to a randomised function.

Final Idea

The final outcome of this project is the creation of an ultrawide surrealistic landscape containing all of our fears. Known as the Collective Landscape of Fears, this blend of images create a side-scrolling effect where viewers could traverse through the artwork uncovering our deepest phobias.
